This Mazda CX-7 (9?) with carlashes was behind me for a few miles yesterday. I want to hate these, but I can’t. They bother anyone and they don’t make the car any less safe. And for a “happy-face era” Mazda it actually just works. I know these have been around a few years, but I think is only the second time I’ve actually seen them in the wild. Are these more popular elsewhere or is it just a niche thing?

I have extreme dislike of these. Truck nuts but for the other side of the scale.

I’m ok with carlashes but they don’t work on everything.

I’ve seen a couple cars with those on them, mainly VW beetles or smart cars.

Seeing them on cars moving at highway speed is absolutely hilarious.

People with car-lashes should have them removed and be lashed with them.
Okay maybe extreme but they are hideous.

Get both and you have a transvestite car.

Yeah the only other one I’ve seen was a Beetle - that seems to be their natural habitat.

I think a bro dozer with lashes would be an amazing dose of wtf though.

Seen it. You’d think it would be amazing but it was just some scary looking gym rat lady.

What about the Carstache(R)?

I want to hate these, but I can’t.
Don’t worry, I have enough hatred for two.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen it here in San Antonio. A good quarter or more of the lifted trucks that I see are driven by women.

I’m perfectly content with someone blocking their radiator in an effort to make their car look like it makes its living by shooting videos you can’t search for at work.

I now want there to be a photo with a Mercury Comet in a Carstache entitled “the gentleman Comet”. Sadly, such does not exist, yet.

They are sold globally and the people who invented them are doing quite well, so there must be quite a few out there. Very eccentric folk who sell them.

I hate these so much, I see them too often.

I see these WAY more than I want to. Saw a pink pair the other day. And I think it looks stupid as hell. But, not my car.

Or getting/installing carlashes for the owner of a bro dozer... as a gift!

Interesting. Is there an article about them out there that you saw?

I’ve met them once before and know someone who works for them.

Cool!

I don’t hate them, I think they look kind of cool. I did go on a date with a girl who had them on her car so I got to see them up close. They are metal and pretty strong, so I think they actually do make the car less safe for impacts with pedestrians. I think they should be illegal, but in the same way having no front plate is illegal. As in, no need for a witch hunt, but these really shouldn’t be on automobiles.

Interesting. I’ve never seen them up close - always assumed they were semi-flexible plastic like PVC or something. Being metal does make it less safe and something that probably shouldn’t be there.
